Lukenya Boys High School

Lukenya Boys High School is a home-away-from-home that immerses the boys in the values and beliefs that define a Lukenya
education. There is something special about living in a community seven days a week.

Our boys are with each other for work, study, play and relaxation. Boys form strong bonds across year groups, underpinned by mentoring between the junior and senior boys. They come to value their Houses, seeing them as a place to call home – somewhere they are encouraged to be fully themselves, and relish the fellowship of their friends.

Each of our 7 Houses are staffed by teachers who deeply understand and embrace the essence of boarding at Lukenya. They provide care, mentorship, trust and support to the boys and help ensure a safe and supportive environment for them to live and learn
in.

The boys in our Boarding Houses live well structured lives. It is essential for both their success and wellbeing that they learn to organise their days to optimise the opportunity for study, games, rest, and relaxation.

We seek to encourage independence, maturity and
responsibility in every student in our care.

Our specific aims are:

• To create a community that ensures the safety and welfare of its students in an environment where they can be both healthy and happy.
• To provide an environment in which students can develop their
  intellectual academic, sporting and creative potential through well-structured routines, access to staff and other students in an atmosphere which values effort. 
• To develop each boarder’s responsibility for self, for others and for their environment.
• To develop students’ qualities of leadership and their ability to work as a team.
• To create a caring and supportive environment for the
  development of all students.
• To create a community in which achievement is
  recognised and celebrated.

Emotional and social well-being of the students are an important part of their lives. The students at Lukenya Boys’ High school have an opportunity to discuss any concerns and worries they may have to the dedicated Guidance and Counseling teacher, or any other teacher that they feel comfortable confiding in.

In addition, every class teacher is assigned to work with each individual student in their class with whom they meet regularly, formally and informally, individually and in groups, to review and support their progress, and to address any issues raised. The pastoral care extends through the house system in the school. The students are allocated to one of 7 houses where the Boarding Master also plays an important role in the pastoral care of the boys.

The school also engages motivational speakers to give interactive lectures in life matters, careers, and religious issues among others. This helps the students reach their full potential and study in a stress free, conducive environment that helps nurture their strengths.

Finals. We wish them luck, and hope for the best as they strive to achieve their goals and dreams. They are a great class of talents.

The Lukenya Boys High School prides itself in having all staff
fully residential and housed in the extensive staff Estate which is
within the school compound.
All the teaching staff are qualified and self motivated in their chosen
specialisations. Their dedication, care, and expertise will leave
life-affirming legacies in the student lives.

Over the years this has culminated into excellent
academic results posted in national examinations by the school.
The school also has a retinue of professional, well trained and
highly motivated support staff to complement the running of key
academic and non-academic areas such as:

Lukenya Boys’ is big on extra-curricular activities. We believe in
holistic education, and therefore have invested in infrastructure for
