The Lukenya Schools are vibrant and forward thinking institutions. We are proud of our reputation as centres of academic excellence combined with outstanding pastoral care. Situated in spacious and serene compounds below the Lukenya Hill, the schools provide a perfect environment for education.
Our over arching principles are:
- To become centres of academcic excellence
- To develop a disciplined enviornment which emphasises self discipline and self responsibility
- To have high expectations of pupil behaviour and achivement so as to give confidence to learn
- To enlist positive cooperation and mutual understanding between the school and the parents to form an effective response to the needs of all pupils.
This ensures that an open, relaxed and purposeful atmosphere and a sense of community exists within the Lukenya schools and for students this means a stimulating, enjoyable and a satisfying place to study
The Lukenya Academy was started in January 1992. It was a humble beginning. With only four classes, a mabati boys dorm, a wood building for offices and more teachers than pupils, the primary school begun. The original wood building is today the Art room and a lot has changed since.
The secondary school was started in 1999. It was started to cater for a large Tanzanian population in the primary school. Starting from grade 8, the students were prepared for the GCE examinations which gave students access to various A’ level schools in Kenya and Tanzania. Since then the school has grown due to excellent year on year results. In February 2007, the school moved away from the Primary School into its own custom built campus ‘down the road’.
Today the secondary school prides itself in being unique in the way it specially caters for the Kenyan child. With a capacity of 150 students, and now offering the IGCSE qualification, the school offers a wide range of subjects and continues to develop its facilities.
